Announcement about Text Alert Service is done at the Hard Rock Cafe Jakarta, August 21 by David Jones, VP Global Marketing Friendster. By 22 August this service can be used in Indonesia. These via SMS messages include inbox handling such as friend request and others. Besides that, users can also send SMS to update shoutout, write for bulletin board and others. Friendster does not charge a fee for this service, but users will be charged for regular text messaging according to the applicable rate in each provider. Not only that, the Friendster text Alert users can also limit the number of messages received per day.

On occasion David revealed that Friendster Mobile users are most come from Indonesia and Indonesia is the first non-English language used in Friendster Mobile.
